  1. Belgium Shutter Island August '17

At first glance, the huge psychiatry campus with its historical buildings reminds you of certain pieces of literature or films. The early morning haze lies over the hospital grounds and really adds to that somewhat uncanny atmosphere. It´s still pretty early in the morning. Thus, we almost don´t meet any people. A situation, that changed completely on our way back, when we had to keep as insconspicious as possible among patients, nursing stuff and "normal" visitors. Yet, everything´s still pretty calm and we can enjoy the morning silence as we walk across the park-like grounds of the hospital, walking on paths which are bordered by beautiful flowers. Here and there, beautiful buildings appear. Everything occurs to be peaceful and neat. Almost a place for your well-being, at least form the perspective of a non-patient. Not before we pass by a building, fenced up by thick bars, reality sets in. As if by command, we can suddenly hear screams coming out of the building. The hospital is largely still active. Only a small part has been disused out of unknown reasons. It seems like time´s been standing still here for a pretty long time. Old benches would´ve been disappeared in a jungle-like thicket entirely, if it wasn´t for their bright red colours. Across an architectural more than beautiful patio we enter the building in front of us. Inside, particularly striking are the numerous toys scattred around the building. What exact purpose the old building served remains a mystery.

    Haha - exactly!
  3. Belgium Shutter Island August '17

Haha, the baby almost scared me to death... I was taking a photo in the corridor right next to that pretty dark toilet with the doll, when I suddenly spotted it out of the corner of my eye.
  4. Germany Fliegerhorst Jüterbog-Damm, Germany - June 2017

  7. Chucky's Cousins

Damn - I really like those dolls! I have some to contribute:
  8. Belgium Mold House August '17

Recently, I´ve visited "Mold House". Of course, more than well-known. When I first set my eyes on pictures of that house with its amazing colours and its state of decay, I instantly fell in love. I´m glad I could fulfill my dream of visiting that place. I especially loved the pink colour of the armchairs being sokaed into the carpet. [/url]

Thank you so much! :-) It´s nice you´ve recognised me by the style of my photos.
  10. The small chapel is idyllically situated on the hillside. Standing at the foot of the hill, the building is almost invisble. Thanks to the season, the knowing eye is able to spot the chapel between the sparse vegetation. Following up the slope for few minutes, a small weather-beaten wall appears. Climibing up the wall, there´s a small, overgrown path to follow. Inside the chapel it´s silent. Peaceful. The roof is full of holes - traces of the ravages of time. Ivy climbs steadily through the biggest of them. There´s still a large crucifix on the wall. The detailed depiction of Jesus is still in an unbelievable excellent condition. While Jesus looks as good as new, everything around him is decaying relentlessly. Unfortunately, I hardly have any information about the chapel. Old commemorative plaques testify that the chapel was probably errected by a local noble family. The building should be far more than 100 years old by now.
  11. Couldn't chair less!

  12. Germany Small Brewery - September 2016

I don´t have much information about the small brewery which is located in the south of Germany. The current owner is a guy from England, who disappeared some years ago. Since then, the building has been left to decay. The story hit some headlines in the local newspapers. Small, but I loved it anyway!
  13. The old Soviet military camp is one of my favourite ones in Germany. It was built during the Nazi era and later used by the Red Army. After the fall of the Iron Curtain and the withdrawal of the Soviet troops from the former German Democratic Republic (GDR), the area has been abandoned. I´ve visited this place three times so far, because I´ve been so deeply fascinated by still finding so many authentical remnants of the past, and I´m sure there´s still more to explore.
  14. UK St Crispins - "The Clock Tower" December 16

The old clocktower is amazing! Awesome set of pictures!
  15. Germany Soviet Military Camp "Finsterer Forst" (March '16)

There´s still so much to see every single time... I hope I come back again - as long as it´s possible! :-)
  16. Germany Soviet Military Camp "Finsterer Forst" (March '16)

    Thanks to all! :-)
  17. Italy Colonia Montana - September '14

The former children´s sanatorium ("colonia") is located somewhere in the Italian mountains and was once built for the treatment of ill children. The building itself was a mere time capsule, full of numerous sick beds, school inventory as well as old medical bottles, ointments and tinctures - all of those had exceeded their expiry date by decades. Moreover, we found old documents - old vaccination confirmations of the late 1960's as well as old patient´s lists of the 1950's.
  18. Germany Small Brewery - September 2016

    Thanks to all! :-)
  19. Germany Sanatorium R.

The old sanatorium was once used as recreation home for staff of a well-known German company. At the beginning of the 20th century, the building was donated by the daughter of the company founder to the spa town X. It has been abandoned since the early 1990's. The building is now in a heavy state of decay. Yet, there are some plans to revitalize the area. While exploring that place I also made new friends... This fellow suddenly just sat right in front of me...:
  20. I love the photos and especially the warm tones! Great place with a lot of inventory left.
  21. Germany Sanatorium R.

Thank you all! :-) The peacock was a nice surprise indeed, haha.
  22. Germany Mental hospital (visited 12/2015)
