What was meant to be my last explore of the year (ended up doing some unpopular abbey the next day on the spur of the moment) was this rather pleasant hospital. It had been on my target list for a long time ever since it popped up on my news feed a long time ago. Waking up in the early hours of the morning in a nearby hotel with PeterC4, Sonyes, Project Mayhem and Lowri a quick drive to meet up with Ninja Kitten and Perjury Saint before making our way to site. Being a early start we kind of messed up the the timing a little bit and as we parked up and getting ready to go, a car pulls up behind us and steps a high vis jacket, ahh bollocks, we are busted before we even start.... But no the high vis wanders past the bunch of retrobates fairly oblivious to our activities. A speedy entry once to the site was made, also a few cheeky thumbs up to passerby's who knew exactly what we were up too, moving in two groups we found entry inside and headed off to a small room for a bit of chat and a relax before the light came up and the adventure would really begin. This hospital is massive, took me so long to figure out where I was in the building, venturing along alone on the most part as I got seperated from the rest, I thought I was making good progress. Until I realised I had only seen around half by the time we only had little over an hour left of good light. It was a excellent explore and with the best company you could get. This place easily ranks in the top 5 of the best places I have explored, its was absolutely massive, and in such amazing condition with just the right amount of peely paint in places. Visited as a first stop on a road trip with PROJ3CTMAYH3M and mrdystopia, We spent 11 hours wondering the vast complex and didn't even come close to seeing all of it. I even had time for a nap on one of the very comfortable beds, much needed after traveling throughout the night. I knew that there would be equipment left inside, but I never imagined there would be so much of it, and in such good condition. Round every corner there seemed to be another interesting feature to find, from CAT-Scaners, MRI machines, and X-Ray machines to operating theatres, laboratories and a hydrotherapy pool. Looking at pictures of this sprawling hospital on the south coast cannot truly convey the size of this behemoth! Without doubt the biggest place I've visited yet, we were wandering around getting lost for at least 10 hours!! After setting off at stupid o'clock we arrived before dawn and proceeded with a suitably 'covert' access (they dont take kindly to visitors!) and were soon settled down in one of the wards waiting for the sun to do its thing... Initially I wasnt overly keen, a bit new and non decayed! But the further we went the better it got... Older, more decayed with masses of bits n pieces left behind, by the time we had finished I was totally exhausted and elated in equal measure! An ACE day with ACE company namely Alt, Sshhh, Lucky Pants and PROJECT MAYHEM who kindly acted as guide... Only downer for the day was my besty NK had to pull out at the last minute Still, that means I can go back for a revisit!! So heres my take on the place... Some of the newer parts... Then some of the interesting stuff started to reveal itself... Although, some of it seemed to be leaking!! And into the labs... Then lo and behold... OLDNESS!! Well... Ta for lookin!
