Pyestock-Going, going... it wont be long!!!

Recommended Posts

Had my first taste of pye on sunday, kicking myself for not going sooner now though because demo is WELL underway!!! :( The iconic blue pipes which exit the air house are now gone and from the roof of the plant house you can see demo work has started over a fair bit of the site.

If youve not been or fancy a revisit then get yer skates on!!!

Didnt take any externals im afraid... If you have a look on DP, Alt Day Out has posted an update on Pye that shows some of the demo... :(

Nowt stopping you really, I've been the once but will be back there very soon as I didn't get to see the 'best' bits, determined to this time, as I don't want to have to go back a 3rd time! :)

If the government charged even VAT on the metal in that place, they could cut taxes for a year!

Well I have no idea where the mile part comes from as the tracks are actually 800m. Well according to Wikipedia anyway. Doing more research is just getting confusing. I have found that there maybe more to the site than what I or others have posted.
Some of the site is live with one big dish here and some others nearby.
Here are a few of my shots.

Not able to get into the buildings but got a couple through the window.

Lastly a couple of what I guess is a live dish on the site.

Ok, not exactly a secret that the old place is being demolished, so after a single visit last year and a fail this Summer, thought I better saddle up and have a look round before its all rubble.
Visited with True British Metal and belatedly Cloaked Up.
You all know the history of this place, opened as a workhouse in 1868, became a General Hospital in the 1930's, and gradually started shutting down in the 90's until final closure in 2010.

      Cheers

When I was doing some long exposure earlier today, I came across a problem. My camera started producing these wierd purple blobs and crosses across the picture, I had been doing it for about 10-20 minutes previous without problems until this happened.

I'm using a Nikon D3100, 18-55 VR Kit Kens, with a Variable ND Filter set to 10.
      Anybody got any suggestions/remedies? Thanks
