The House of Decaying Porn... (Visited March 2012) Kent

Recommended Posts

I believe this also may also go under the title of Hoarders House…it’s in a little cinque port town in Kent..some mild HDR..so look away now if that offends…

Friday afternoon..sunny ..blue sky..epic failure on the first location due to me thinking a group of old decaying buildings looked great from the train..turned out to be someone’s stables !..so feeling somewhat dejected after a long walk we were driving out of the town when….

This old place was jammed packed with stuff…we could not get into some of the rooms as they were so full!...

Starting at the top we worked ourselves downwards..the older stuff was on the top floors and we spent a pleasant half hour in one room, the sun streaming through the window looking at some vintage porn…there were boxes of it !..I had a terrible time convincing fellow exploring buddy Kev that we should indeed photograph the rest of the house whilst it was still daylight! ..

The entire place had been ravaged, leaking roof and windows meant a lot of the remaining stuff was mouldy and very decayed..the floors were shot ! Was the perfect end to the week !

Brilliant, every splore location has it plus side, like the sheer size of some industrial splores (Pyestock and Millenium Mills) for example, but it's these forgotten time capsules that fo it for me, I could never pass a derelict house because you just never know whats inside, a bit like a luck dip really

Top shots too

Thought I'd post up photos from my visit here in April this year.
This location is very under-valued in my opinion, it is in fantastic condition inside and makes for a really interesting couple of hours explore. The building is pretty big inside, many offices and little back rooms to be found, as well as two projector rooms (Projectors sadly gone) with 3 cinema screens and lots of other random rooms. There's also a fair amount of origenal features and detailing in the building, which is fantastic!
The cinema closed its doors in 1999 (I think) when the multiplex odeon opened down the road at lockmeadow. It has laied empty ever since, although someone must maintain it, as it's surprisingly clean and tidy inside, and the ventilation/heating system is still on (as the bingo hall underneath share the same system)
Apologies for the quality of these pics, they were on my old camera and were mostly handheld as I didn't posess a tripod back then!!
      Reception/foyer area

      Going up . . .

      Pop corn anyone??

      To the Cinema Screens

This is Screen 2, Screens 1 and 2 are virtually identical mirror images of each other where the origenal audatorium was split in 2.

Motors that powered the screen curtains and shuttering.

Screen 3 was the most amazing room with the most fantastic plasterwork in the ceiling.

And this random room, who knows what it was used for, but there were lots of period features in it, and a bloody strip light right in the middle spoiling it all!

Random rooms everywhere with all sorts of bits in

Some projector room equipment, but no projectors

And a couple of images from the roof looking over maidstone

It was an amazing place to look round, nice and warm and dry for a change as well.

Here is a local farm house that is right down the road from where I live. Sorry the pictures are small I took the before I got a real camera. I will be going back soon and taking new pictures. After the pictures check out a music video by the band Nathaniel White and a Link so you can see how the got there name and some info behind the house you see standing along RT17 in Goshen NY.

This is the only surviving example of a kent colliery, and is looking in an increasingly bad way in recent times.
They're still un-sure what they want to do with the buildings, so at the moment they stand there empty, a monument to the sites past use.

All the mine shafts have one of these on them, there were 3 in total, this one was the shallowest, the deepest was over 900metres making Snowdown the deepest colliery in Kent.

Not a lot to see really, but a nice way to spend a couple of hours, and quite a laid back explore as the security people patrolling were actually fine with us being there
Please ignore the quality of these pics, it was over a year ago and I was still getting used to the camera!

So this is my first post on this forum, I found out about these houses on a Abandoned Lincolnshire group on Facebook and thought they were definitely worth a trip, but... the first trip wasn't very successful, the address for these houses took us to two houses on the other side of Withcall that were at one point abandoned but have since been knocked down, so after about half an hour of looking around it became very clear the houses weren't there.

After talking to the person who posted them originally and finding out the real location we headed back up to find them. We had to make sure we kept quiet as there is a neighbor attached to the 2nd station house and we weren't sure they'd have appreciated a night time visit from 3 explorers haha.

Access to the house is easy, the doors being left open is always convenient. Walking around the houses only took 30 minutes or so , but was still a nice little explore. It's one of them places that besides a few repairs and some serious wallpapering, it looks like the family could just walk back through the front door and pick up their lives where they left off which gave the houses a real creepy vibe.

I guess that's all that really needs to be said about these houses. Here's a few pictures:

An abandoned house along a Belgian road. The house was partly destroyed by a fire and the former owner now resides with family. Some family member comes by occasionaly to feed the stray cats.
