DOMUS VISTA

Domus Vista During Construction 1968-1969 borrowed from The Royal Library

Domus Vista is a giant, built in 1968-1969, an impressive 102 meters tall, 30 floors and housing 470 apartments. It's the tallest residential building in Denmark, and the second tallest in Scandinavia, only beaten by The Turning Torso in Malmo.

In the early 1970s it housed a hotel fully equipped with living rooms, banquet facilities and a restaurant. It did however shut down.

The building itself is still in use, a small mall, a library and apartments.

The building was designed by Ole Hagen.

I wanted to visit the building for more than two years, but I was never before in the area of this country. And I would probably not flew there this summer, if would not have been reports that the building is to be restored soon. Meanwhile, I doubt this message; but at least the rumor has had the consequence, finally to realize the visit.

Currently, the former casino can only be visited with permission. Even at night a guard was present.

The building was commissioned around 1900 and it was built between 1904-1910. Because maintaining was too expensive, the casino closed in 1990.
Allegedly, already in 2013 the EU has approved 10 million € for the renovation. If this is true, it is surprising that nothing has happened within the last three years. I asked the town council by email  whether there are plans for a renovation in the near future, but I'm still waiting for an answer.

When I got my fisheye, and as I am from Norfolk one of the first photos I took with it was a tractor! I was quite pleased with the results so I thought I would have a wander about this site. All are processed from 3 handheld bracketed images. I know a bit lazy. Sorry there seems to be a bit of a formula to the images but I hope you enjoy.
