History:
The history of this powerplant started at the begin of the 1930s, when the steel company needed a new more modern way to produce electricity. When building the design had all the modern design features like gas turbines which worked on gas which came as a by-product from the blast furnaces. The plant also had some striking aesthetic design features like a palace like staircase which led to the beautiful control room. At the begin of the 1970s this magnificent place was sadly closed due to a more modern power plant which connected all of the other steel production sites together. This was done to make the decreasing steel production in this area more efficient. In 1991 the rest of the steelworks closed, luckily the last remaining blast furnace was saved and turned into a museum. The plans are also to renovate this power plant to its original condition and open it as a cultural spaces.
