What once was a path is hardly recognizable as such today. What once was a neat park is now nothing but wilderness. The not too dense April woods give away easily the shape of the old chapel's ruin. The roof of it must have collapsed a long time ago. Inside the walls are shimmering in a bright green color. The ravages of time are more than visible. There isn't much ivy to see but I couldn't help but thinking almost immediately and involuntarily of Charles Dicken's poem "Ivy Green". Here too, the green is dominating the ruins creating a bit of life inside the long-dead walls. The big and simple wooden cross catches the eye in the greenish main room of the chapel immediately and adds to the bizarre atmosphere of this little place that seems to be fallen out of time. But there is more: old and forgotten chess pieces scattered around the chapel and leaning against the walls. Once probably put there in order to protect them from the weather. Now forgotten. Checkmate.

The chapel was once part of an old lung sanatorium that had its origin around the turn of the century as Lunatic Asylum and what would nowadays be called a 'detoxification center'.
