As in every city in the Soviet Union, there was also a Palace of Culture in Pripyat.
In total there were over 137,000 in the entire Soviet Union.

It was certainly the most architecturally designed building and the cultural center of the city.
A huge glass front on the outside and many elaborate paintings on the inside.

In here there was a theater, cinema, swimming pool, sports hall, boxing ring and also a library and various meeting rooms.

In some of the adjoining rooms there is still quite a bit of propaganda material stored today.

I'd really like to go back here and take better photos once this pandemic is behind us. Definitely one of the most interesting buildings in Pripyat. Those murals and propaganda posters are amazing

That's really interesting, I don't think I have seen it posted in as much detail as other more touristy parts.

137000 of them though? jeez.
Can imagine it was pretty grand back in the day. At least with this one you can be fairly sure it will be in a similar condition in another 20 years.

Thanks for posting, enjoyed reading that. (y)
