Just a small domestic place that I think is worthy of a report.
On the outskirts of Leicester my partner in crime found this one ages ago, after few weeks of scoping to make sure it was empty we were in.
Approx. 6 months later a few others found it & it got passed around as usual, a few weeks later it was secured.

This was the only external I got but the house is in a bad way with serious structural issues, Im not sure it will ever be lived in again.
Shame as it was a grand place, I loved the layout & style.

Wow so many things, that really is a little time capsule. That table with the copper tea pot on is rather nice to see.. I like this a lot thanks for sharing!

Thanks I have a fair few houses like this but most people dont rate them as "proper exploring" so I tend to keep em to myself

That's pretty cool. I'm not a huge fan of houses in general but they can be quite interesting when they're in good nick like this.

I see both sides of the argument to whether or not houses should be accepted as 'urban exploring'. It does share some of the same factors as exploring non residential stuff - they are abandoned so we're curious to know what's been left inside and we're not meant to be in there etc. However, in most cases they are just full of people's crap and the buildings themselves have no architectural merit. It's those reports that are the issue really, not to mention the 'rightmove exploring' ones. You have to draw a line somewhere and it's down to individual discretion so people are always going to disagree on it unfortunately. We've been pretty liberal on OS allowing people to post anything they like but there's been times where we've seriously considered the same approach as 28 because the forum was getting clogged up with photos of peoples' trash. You don't really want that to be the first thing a newcomer sees when they look at the forum for the first time, especially when there's so much good stuff on here.

Totally agree, Iv done well over 100 residential explores which sound a lot but in over 1k explores its not that big a percentage, & Iv posted maybe a dozen. from over 200 posts & some of my earlier ones aint great so you do need to consider what you are posting.
It is true that most are just full of "the junk" that owners or inheritor's dont want but occasionally they are good. (Normally in probate I guess which does have more shit along with it.)
Below are most of my posts from residential if anyone is interested, I dont believe any of them are crap explores but yes I appreciate it takes a lot of moderating & then there is the shit that goes with it if a owner sees the post.
Its just a weird attitude that some folk think they are above them as they progress through exploring, (personally I think Im above drains lol) I guess we do all start with residential as they are generally "easier" but its nice sometimes to go back to the roots.
What I have found as Iv progressed over the years Im actually less scared of security in a power plant than I am of a potential gun wielding farmer a lot of the time!

PS that last one below can come out of NP

It is a nice one this, I like the first picture and its a great example of a picture that isnt really thought of until you just happen to chance upon it.

But this....

52611827763_353ab77819_c.jpg

Either love it or hate it I guess, but I think that's very distinctive. Along with a lot of this house really.

Fair argument with houses going up as reports. As Damo has said, OS has always been very liberal about what we allow as reports, and I believe in people using their discretion as far as reasonable. It doesnt bode well with showing off the best of the forum sometimes, but it leaves a better chance of encouraging members to post and hopefully new people to do the same.

Ill look into that report for you as well mate.

As far as a residential goes this one is up there with the best. I really like this sort of place, and they're not that common - not crammed full of crap or totally empty. Some fine old furniture and fittings and some items around but nothing too personal. So personally its fine to include on the forum.
Btw that chair by the bed is amazing!
