History:

Manicomio Di R was built in 1870 as an place for the poor, but after a couple of years it was transformed into an Lunatic Asylum. Electroshock therapy was used extensively here, along with experimental operations on the nervous system. Facilities included a laboratory of clinical research, one of pathology, one radiology, one of electrotherapy and an operating room for intervention to the nervous system. 

This asylum closed down in the 90s due to new laws for beter health care for the patients and the building was completely outdated.

I really enjoyed exploring this amazing place!

As others have said, always good to see this place, probably one of the finest old operating theatres around.

Very nice mate. Such an incredible place. I spent 10 hours in there recently and it was my second visit. There is a morgue at the opposite end of the site as well

I really love the corridors of this building, especially the ones with the plants coming through the windows.
