Location
Lincoln
I was told by a friend that this place had been completely demolished, then by another that there was still some buildings left. After a few beers on a Friday night I decided to carry out a bit of research on-line, including a little mooch around on google streetview and discovered several businesses were still trading in that location, which is now known as 'Brookenby Industrial Estate'. Next morning I gave one of the MOT garages a call, and putting on my oldest sounding voice, I asked the nice gentleman if I could book my imaginary 2001 Rover 75 in for its first 10K service. He chuckled. I then slipped into conversation that (fictitiously) I served there when it was an RAF base in the 80's and asked was there much left. He told me there was still SHQ, a few barrack blocks and some random shit dotted around.

The rest is history.....

The Royal Air Force base at Binbrook sits high in the Wolds with a commanding view over Lincolnshire. It was established in 1940 and was in service for almost half a century - home to the legendary Lancaster Bombers right through to the Lightning jets.

Closing in 1988 the land and buildings were sold off and today form something of an ad hoc industrial estate.

A few externals..
