History
This sanatorium was build at the begin of the 1900s. At this time tuberculosis was a real problem in Italy and pretty much everywhere in Europe. So to contain this bacteria and cure patients, huge medical institution were build called sanatoriums. These complexes were nearly always build in rural areas, like forests or mountains. The reason behind this is because they believed that fresh air, a nice scenery and sun cured the illness. Later in the 1960s when medicine became widely available the illness was in just a couple of years nearly completely eradicated. Which made these complexes without a real reason to exist, fortunately this complex was converted into a ordinary hospital. The hospital served its service until 2015. At this time the hospital closed its doors, due to the construction of a modern hospital right next to the sanatorium.

I really enjoyed exploring this place. The endless corridors with wonderful natural light really gave a surreal calm atmosphere, which was just great to explore!

I loved it in here as well. The chapel is very cool but the tunnels are my favourite part. They go on forever! Nice pics btw

Have to say, the first thing that was IMMEDIATELY obvious, was that the building was pristine, whereas, if it were here in the UK, ti would have been smashed to bits by druggie scum...

Actually if you look at the chapel people have smashed the altar to pieces and started a fire in there. It used to be pristine. It's still pretty nice now but places do get fucked up over there eventually.
