This one was a bit samey once we got inside, looked like it was going to be better from the outside, think the best part was getting in, that and the massive amount of dead birds we found inside. The place was caked in pigeon shit, and there were warnings plastered all over about unsafe structure or whatever but heyho we were already inside by that point ?

History stolen from https://www.forgottenisle.com/,

The builing dates back to 1926, but before it was named the Bay Queen, it was formerly known as Ballaqueeney Hotel. Part of the hotel was demolished in 2001 following it's closure in 1994 and subsequent dereliction.

It was used to help house internees during World War II.

There are plans to convert the hotel into flats and a restaurant.

spot the spelling mistake

and all the dead birds, must have been a sparrowhawk or something picking them off because some of them were very 'fresh' and mutilated...

Pigeon what?! Haha gotta love warning sign fails, also that is a well varied collection of ex-birds. The stained glass skylight (surely has a grander name than that?) is awesome, hope that stays in the restoration  :)

Wow they love their danger signs don't they! Looks like it was a pretty grand place at one time, glad a few bits remain such as the chroma-tinted suspension window (how about that, @seaside_rambler  :) )

Yeah didn’t clock the spelling mistake at the time, only afterwards looking through my pics. The place was a goldmine for dead birds, well if you’re into that kind of thing ? Tbh I’m not holding my breath for the restoration, any signs of work seem to have stopped.

Yeah the first few rooms were pretty cool & the tiles in the bathroom but after that it got a bit samey, loads of corridors & ripped out rooms that all looked the same.
