I really do love places like this... When we made our way on to this still active steelworks, this part of the factory wasn't even our main goal. We kinda stumbled upon it by accident. My by oil and rust driven heart immediately made a small leap of joy. This pump house was built in 1899 to provide the necessary cooling for the adjoining gas power plant (which was our actual goal that day). The power plant was left in the mid 1970's and obviously so was the pump house. Fourty years of decay have turned this piece of industrial heritage into a real gem. The ACEC pumps are all still there, but now with the added beauty of rust, moss and ferns. A combination that guarantees beautiful colors... The housing of the pumps reminded us of snails. Usine Escargot seemed like an appropriate name.
