  2. This church was the reason why I wanted to go to Wales during my last trip to the UK. Thanks @The_Raw and @Miss.Anthrope for visiting this place with me. History (taken from The_Raw) Engedi Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Chapel built was built in 1842, rebuilt in 1867 and modified in 1890. The present chapel, dated 1867, is built in the Classical style of the gable entry type, to the design of architect Richard Owen of Liverpool by Evan Jones of Dolyd and cost £4579. The Classical front is of granite masonry with Penmon stone dressings and a portico. The chapel is now Grade II listed. The interior contains an octagonal pulpit and an ornate organ with classical detailing including Corinthian pilasters and swags. The raked galley is on three sides and is supported by cast iron columns with brackets and foliate capitals. The ceiling consists of 15 square panels, again very heavily decorated with classical mouldings and with ornate roses to the centre of each providing ventilation and fittings for lights. The basement has a ministers room, offices and a schoolroom. The chapel was sold at auction in April 2014 for £45,000 after having been disused for a number of years.   4. Although I knew Villa Anna L. has been destroyed over the last years I definately had to visit the location as it is the origin of my interest in lost places and photography in general.   5. When I first saw pictures of this Hotel I fell in love with its architecture. I absolutely love the connection of fairfaced concrete and wood. Therefore I definately had to visit it although before decay had a chance to begin. Unfortunately vandalism comes faster than decay.   6. This small family crypt was built by a bavarian count in the middle of the 19th century. Burried are his wife and their son who died at the age of 17. Unfortunately vandalism stops at nothing. 99% of graffities in LPs are crap.   8. A few weeks ago I visited an old abandonend chocolate factory in the south-west of Germany. The rainy day normally suits the shabby mood of the environment but of course requires long exposure.   10. I found this tank at a former military trainig area around Munich. The associated casern was closed in 2001. The tank was used as military target once.   11. A repair facility of a big steel factory here in Belgium. Abandoned for many years but still surrounded by razor wire . Here they repaired the trains and also other equipment used in in steel factory (radio's, chargers,....). It' took some walking to see all of the building (and still missed some parts.It was a solo explore so I was cautious about every sound I heard. Found a former living quarter of some copper thieves with sleeping corner and a crude home-made heater/stove. This was my kind of Sunday morning activity. Tnx for watching.   12. Two weeks ago I decided to visit a small mill that I had on my list for a long time. At Google Maps I saw two buildings that turned out to be the mill and the miller's residential building. I did'nt expect too much but was very happy in the end. Although the mill is abandoned for many years it is in a very good condition - not graffiti, very little vandalism. The miller seems to have been very passionate for two things: beer and photography. Good guy!   14. And old 18 century house with had a bank function.The building is stripped of all furniture an will probably be renovated in some future. Needed to be a little bit inventive to gain access to this one.   16. I found this small house in the woods near Munich. Almost cleared it still got a certain charme as it hides a little local treasure - the mask of a Krampus. The Krampus is a figure appearing in the Bavarian tradition of St. Nicholas. Whilst St. Nicholas rewards the brave kids on the 6th of December the Krampus dsiciplines the naughty ones. Each year on the 5th of December there are Krampus walks in the Bavarian cities. A group of Krampus dressed in fur and scary masks walk through the cities trying to frighten the kids. The kids on the other hand try to annoy the Krampus without getting disciplined. These handcrafted wooden masks are often very old an therefore quite precious - at least in a traditional sense. I visited this place when I did the tower in another report and managed to sneak downstairs while the caretaker took a call this part of the building is abandoned and leads to the ramsgate tunnels, sadly bricked up as you will see in the photos:- Bit of history here:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Granvi ... ,_Ramsgate On with the pics, this place underground and the redundant ballroom is stunning, the fireplace is solid marble which was boarded up incase it got nicked, they were going to do this up, but not sure now what has happened to it.   22. Oldish report from November last year. Got caught by some contractors in here and they weren't best pleased. History: St John’s Asylum, Lincolnshire in the East of England was built 1852. The building was then known as Lindsey & Holland Counties & Lincoln & District Lunatic Asylum. The Asylum has also been known over the years as Lincolnshire County Pauper Lunatic Asylum and Bracebridge Heath Asylum. Finally it was given the name St John’s during the early 1960’s It was originally built to house just 250 patients but by 1902 the asylum grounds covered 120 acres. The grounds of the asylum were cultivated by the inmates where they grew their own vegetables. Within the grounds was a cemetery for the hospital which covered 1.5 acres. St John’s also had its own mortuary chapel. After the outbreak of World War II during 1940, the patients were transferred to other nearby establishments as the hospital was turned into an emergency hospital. In 1948 the administration of the hospital was passed to the National Health Service The asylum finally closed its doors during December 1989 with all the patients being transferred to other nearby hospitals. The site was then sold to developers who have converted a lot of the site into new housing. All that now remains is the main asylum buildings which are Grade II listed and cannot be demolished. However work is now under way to convert the main buildings into flats.
  23. This is a classic mooch from a little while back, only never got around to actually reporting it anywhere! This site is now completely redeveloped, so no chance of future explores unfortunately HISTORY Stone House Hospital, formerly the City of London Lunatic Asylum, was a hospital and former mental illness treatment facility in Stone, near Dartford, Kent. The hospital has been closed since 2007 amd has since been under redevelopment into flats. Stone House was originally constructed between 1862 and 1866 at the behest of the London Commissioners in Lunacy to provide for pauper lunatics from the London area at a cost of £65,000. The buildings were designed in a Tudor Revival architecture style by James Bunstone Bunning, and the facility accommodated 220 patients. AERIAL VIEW THE EXPLORE - 14.3.2012 With a little pointer from a 'contact' we were able to enjoy an explore without too much interruption. The builders were obviously having a lay in, as it wasnt until after lunchtime that they started getting suspitious! By then we'd got most of our shots and made a stealthy retreat!   24. Well known and stunning. I actually think this place has now been given go ahead to be restored... Good news! A great little trundle through the countryside, a sneaky way into someones back garden, through the cellar, up through rotting floorboards and we were in!
