The old primary school has apparently been abandoned for quite some time. Crumbling plaster is leading the way. Decay as far as the eye can see. Now and then friendly yet strong reminders written somewhere: "Instortingsgevaar" (danger of collapse). Certain areas of the school building are definitely in a pretty bad condition which is obvious even without knowledge in statics. Remnants of the former school life are scattered throughout the whole building. Toys, photos of former students as well as old books. All these things just intensify the frozen in time atmosphere. A beautiful little place left to rot right in the middle of active school grounds.

That´s the reason we chose the summer holidays for our visit. Despite of that the grounds were really busy that day. Apparently, preparations for the upcoming school year took place. Sneaking into the building was quite easy, whereas sneaking outside unseen became an almost undoable task. While taking photos inside the grounds had become more and more busy. The only chance was trying to head towards the exit as fast as possible. And so the inevitable happened. Only few steps after leaving our building we heard a loud "Hey" behind us. Two workers appeared but couldn´t hide their smiles. Still feeling relief a woman, probably the headmaster, came out of the active school building opposite of ours and shouted angrily at us threatening us to call the police. Disappearing as fast as possible was the only option now. Barbed wire or not. After a detour to our car and an adrenaline level slowly going back to normal we finally escaped safely. A brief look back to our arrival: while searching for a parking space we were watched by an elderly man standing behind his window with his curtains in his hand. He observed us so obviously so that we decided to look for another place to park our car. Yet not before waving at the conspiciously behaving man who responded by waving back at us right away. So better never tend to underestimate the local "security".

Luckily, everything went well. The detail shots are very nice, especially the puppets and puppet figures.

That really is lovely!  I need to get to Belgium. Ten years of exploring and I’ve never made it here and that’s not acceptable!

That's a lovely set of pictures, as you say it must have been abandoned some time. The nice decay adds to the atmosphere.

The best thing is you got spotted on the way out, not the way in!

Really enjoyed your writeup on this one, angry headmasters and all.

The puppets are a little odd to be in a classroom though ?

Have you a picture of the danger sign? could be a good one in the themed threads section :)

The Chateau LadyBug is a beautiful place to explore, with a lot of different styles and photo opportunities.
The main building was built during the XIXth century.
It became a restaurant during the 80's when a rich investor decided to reconvert himself in the restauration.
He renovate the place to reach the standards of the most famous restaurants, hire a famous cook and won a star in the Michelin Guide quickly.
Things turned bad for the owner when his chief cook decided to quit.
Then, he tried to test his luck again by hiring two new cook, but without success, at all...
Customers started to desert the place, bills started to piles up and bankrupt arrived few months later.

Currently, the place is for sale for more than 2M.
We explored it just in time before it was closed and cameras were installed.

The abattoir opened in 1960 and closed in early 2017. They opened up a new abattoir which can slaughter over 2 million pigs a year. This site will now be demolished for 100 houses, which is a relief to local residents who wanted the abattoir closed.

Océade was an indoor waterpark in Brussels, Belgium and the largest of its kind in the Brussels Capital Region. Originally part of a 3 park franchise, the other 2 parks located in France, it was the only park to remain in business after the French divisions closed. Running at a loss, the park was acquired by the Walibi Group in 1992, with management experience built up through Aqualibi near Wavre just south of Brussels.
The park has continuously expanded and been renovated, and was the Belgian leader for water slides, with 14 slides in the park. Most notably, the Hurricane is record holder for the fastest European slide (average speed 40 km/h), and the Barracuda is the longest duo slide in Belgium. With over 240 000 visitors per year and a combined volume of 1 800 m³ of water, Océade was a major leisure attraction in the Brussels Capital Region.
In 2016, the Brussels city council announced Océade would be forced to close to make space for its NEO project, a redevelopment project envisioning the replacement of most of Bruparck (including Kinepolis and Océade) on the Heysel Plateau with a shopping district and residential area. Under public protest, closure was repeatedly postponed, and the final closing date was 30 September 2018.

All the slides and equipment have been bought by a Romanian water park and are currently getting dismantled and re-located.

The photos were taken with my mobile phone, reason being, i was on the beer and the access was a little tricky with alarms going off.... So i wanted to get in and out quickly! 😉
