Italy Villa ornata con fontana (visited 07/2018)

Recommended Posts

It had rained the day before my visit.  Therefore, the steep slope that I climbed up alone to this abandoned, Italian villa on a hill, had turned into a muddy slide. The way up was correspondingly arduous and painstaking. I slipped off several times and within minutes my clothes were half soaked and completely dirty. But I didn't want to give up and fought my way up. Once there, I had to walk through bushes and a nettle-overgrown garden, until I finally reached the open access at the back of the building.

But the effort was absolutely worth it. On the ground floor was a hall with columns and a fireplace. However, the most magnificent room was on the first floor. Great wall and ceiling paintings, mirrors on both sides, a skylight with broken glass, several statues and faces made of stone; and everything embedded in sad decay. This room was simply impressive, and overwhelming beautiful.

Subsequently, I still discovered a fountain with a statue in the back of the garden.

For the way down, I chose another route. This one was a little easier, although at the end I had to climb over a fence, to get out. But fortunately, I wasn't seen doing that by the residents of the property, and that was the main thing.

I discovered this big factory almost 2 years ago. It used to build washing machines and it was closed down more than 10 years ago. At that time it was already obvious that the location was completely empty... but what made me really interested in this place was the colour of some building of the complex: that very particular red, which almost seems like blood, was enough to make me say "I need to go there". And so I did. As I guessed, there was nothing inside lol, but I don't regret this exploration at all...
Btw this place is a little bit tricky because it's completely surrounded by houses, so everyone can see you. We had to hide in various occasion: one time there was a watch dog who was barking to us from his home so we hid ourselves behind a wall, just 2 meters away from it. Luckily its owners didn't get why that dog was barking that much. At some point an old lady and her husband saw us but in the end nothing happened...

This is a very popular textile factory in Italy. It is very big, it even has a power plant which used to power the whole structure when it was functioning. We stayed there for like 4 hours and managed to explore maybe only 2/3 of the place (or even less)... Entering there was tricky because all the doors has recently been welded (even that one which was used by all the explorers) and the only remaining access was 3 meters away from a couple in a car while doing... nothing, literally. They were just sitting in their car doing nothing... So we had to improvise a little bit. When we got out we almost got spotted by a very slow police car so I instantly layed down inside the cabin at the entrance (I was taking a picture there) and my mate hid himself behind of it. We even heard the police radio a few meters away from us. After a few minutes we saw the car moving away from us, and then we managed to get out.
      That was honestly funny lol

Some months ago I went to explore this abandoned middle school. Since it is almost completely vandalized, there is nothing special inside (exept maybe for the wooden chair you will see), but what made me so curious about this structure was its architecture, very modern and... unusual for a school. Since it was raining and we didn't have any umbrellas, I couldn't take many pictures from outside; I also tried to climb onto the top, but for the same reason I stayed there only for a few seconds (the camera I was using wasn't even mine and was really expensive, so I was scared to ruin it).

      Here is the complete album.

"-RiP- You were and remain unique, grandpa"
(I found that chair in that position)

I already visited this former school in Italy last summer.

I don't know if the rumor is true; but I heard that the globe is not original. Allegedly, the previously existing globe was stolen. Then, so is said, a photographer brought another globe and put it there. But as I said, I don't know if this story is true.
Anyway, there were other beautiful things in this school along with old maps.

Mostly you can only see photos of the one classroom with the globe online. That's why it was important for me to photograph and show other rooms from there as well.
