Bontddu Hall was built in the 1870's and was originally the country retreat of the Mayor of Birmingham. Later and most notably it was one of the top hotels in Wales, then in 2004 it was converted back into a private home. In 2020 there was a serious fire (rather stating the obvious). Even though it was put up for sale with talk of potential renovation its most likely fate will be demolition and homes to be built on the site. As an aside, there are news reports of the fire which mentions a lady dying as a result but no report of who she was or the cause of the fire. Interesting.
The bar seems to have escaped any damage so you could still enjoy a drink here enjoying the stunning views.
Elsewhere, some elegant furniture remains amongst the debris
The location is stunning and a good place to have a sandwich on the terrace, enjoying the same views as the famous guests such as Winston Churchill once would have done.
