Houghton Grange Animal Testing Facility, Cambridgeshire - March '15

Houghton Grange is a former estate which was designed by architect James Ransome. It lies in over 100 acres of land and was built in 1898. Until about 25 years ago it served as a poultry research centre, it was during this chapter in the building's history that the 'two horrific 1960’s laborotory extensions either side of the main house' were built. It's now up for sale after a failed attempt to make it housing.

The main building is surrounded by smaller, more modern building which served purposes like housing the 'residents' and performing autopsies, among others.

This is the first place I've been to where they have cameras, PIRs and speakers swarmed together on lamp posts.

What a collection of security thingies on that lamp-post too, nuts!

Was told all the newer annexes are full of asbestos and have hinder development as puts off investors plus in the middle of nowhere.

Was lucky enough to get into the Grange years back by a nice old bored secca fella on a Sunday afternoon.

There was some nice original features if you looked through the bad conversion to office space and was covered in scaffolding.

Good to see more of this place.
