History:

The Willington Power Station was established in the 1950’s as a coal fired plant. In 1990 it was bought by National Power after the privatization the UK electricity market. By 1998, the Willington Power Station was closed. After the end of National Power in 2001, when the company became de-merged, many of the power plants owned by National Power were demolished. Though defunct and discontinued the Willington Power Station cooling towers still remain but not much else of the site.

This was the last site on my Sheffield tour, and stopped here with Miz Firestorm on the way home. I've wanted to do these for quite a while now, so it was nice to get round to visiting them. Pictures aren't the best, but it's safe to say i was feeling a little sleep deprived at the time haha! Didn't realize the shear size of these thing's until I tried to get them all in 1 picture.. think i ended up walking about 3 miles back to get them all in:D

Kept it short and sweet, so i better get on with some picture..

That's a really cool set mate, quite an iconic location this one. I presume there are no ladders up these as people have roped up there before so I guess that's the only way.

Yeah sadly no ladders any more, or I'd have been up them like proverbial off a shovel. I've seen photos from guys who have roped up to the top before, nutters....
