The aircraft was used as a transport, long-range maritime patrol aircraft (later also with radar), submarine hunting aircraft and for electronic reconnaissance.
The machine parked here, an Avro Shackleton 716 MR3 (of which a total of 34 were built) had the serial number XF700 RAF. 191 of all models were built, 29 of which were lost in accidents.
This machine completed its first flight on July 9, 1958. The delivery then took place on August 18, 1958 to the 23rd MU, which then gave the machine to the 120 Sqn in September. handed over. From October 1971 it was used as a firefighting training facility at Kingsfield Airport. After all usable spare parts were removed by the 103rd MU, it was finally scrapped in January 1972.
To this day the machine is still on the airfield grounds.
