History:
Business opened here in 1531. With the original building of a similar design to the one that stands now but without the main roof. Sadly it had to be rebuilt due to a fire in 1583, but the original plans were still used.
In 1853 a roof was added to the site and was inspired by the roof of Londons Crystal Palace.
Yet again plagued with bad luck another fire in 1858. This left the need for the place to be rebuilt for the third time. In 1872 the project was complete. This is the building you see before you.

Well I guess it's time I done a proper write up of my euro trip.. so here goes! Finally decided to embark on my first euro trip with a fellow explorer, and due to work/college commitment we could only manage a day trip, but hey, I was still dead excited. I'd been up since 5am on the saturday morning, and after a painfully slow shift at work it was finally time to head down to Kent to my friends house. 150 miles later I made it to hers, and after a cuppa tea, chilling out for an hour & sorting my bag it was time to head out. 11pm come and we left for the ferry, via tesco's for a massive supply of snacks of course. Made it onto the ferry, and before long we were in France and on our way to Belgium.
Made it to CDC, and under the cover of darkness made our entry, and as I walked through the door with just the moonlight illuminating this place the beauty hit me. I knew it was grand, but I never thought it would be this nice. We had a quick look round, and with over an hour till sunrise we found a quiet corner. Well, what I actually found were several very comfy sofas, and I took this as a perfect opportunity to grab an hour's kip. I awoke just as it started to get light, and wasting no time we began shooting! I was a bit like a kid on christmas here, being over excited and a tad snap happy I seem to have about 182471 pictures, and about 3 reasonable ones, but that only means 1 thing - revisit
