This may be of interest for the climbers out there, somewhere to practice.

Sandling was once the junction for a branch line which chugged down the hill to Hythe and Sandgate, doubtless carrying many expectant holidaymakers until its closure in 1951. You can walk most of the old line all the way to hythe.

The bridge is almost backfilled at the far end, and over the years has turned into a pond in a tunnel, there where even small fish in it.
