George Dyke's Dropforging

The Explore.

The last location marking the end of a cracking weekends 'splorathon. Touching on 40 plus hours

awake not including an uncomfortable car mini-kip somewhere in the black country the night/mornin before,

everything's a blur. Seven targets planned, one secca bust, one fail, and five successes. For me, sums up what

this shit is all about, meeting like-minded people and etching memories as you do it.

P.s. Avoid those "chewable toothbrushes" from the machines in the bogs of services... Jaysusss H.

Some Historical Information

The late Mr.George Dyke was born in Birmingham in 1826 and later moved to live in Willenhall

where he worked as a bolt maker. George Dykes has been a forging work since about 1840's. The original site

in Willenhall at Doctors Piece (not Doctors "Peace" which my sat-nav laughed at) was once a piece/peace of land

belonging to Doctor Richard Wilkes, which eventually passed into the ownership of the Chapel of Ease estate.

During the cholera epidemic in 1849, the land at the side of the forge was hastily turned into a burial

ground and some 211 victims are believed to buried there.

George Dyke has produced metal forgings for nearly 200 years and during this time it has been able

to establish itself as a major name working at the forefront of the metal forgings industry. It still

continues business at another site in Darlaston producing high quality hot metal pressings, cold

pressings and finishing processes. Good on ye!

If this explore was the first one on a nice fresh day after a good nights sleep I would probably have

taken a better range and quality of pictures, but this is what I got :) Forgot to take externals too
