Xxxxx is an international industrial technology group headquartered in nearly 30 countries and active in a wide variety of sectors including aerospace, automotive, cement, steel, glass, aluminum and logistics. Today, the range of Xxxxx ranges from isolated devices to complete production lines, workshops or turnkey systems. The group generates sales of around 2 billion euros and employed almost 8,500 people at the end of 2019.

Among his most famous achievements were the first steam locomotives and aircraft engines made in France during the First World War.
The company has existed since 1812 and was created through the merger of Yyyy (1812) and Xxxxx (1861).

The Hangar aux Elephants can be found in the mechanical construction workshops of Xxxxx, which are the nucleus of the company and have been here since 1861. In the 1990s production was stopped here and the halls were empty for a number of years. In the meantime, the entire site is being developed from an urban planning perspective and a number of buildings have already been gutted or converted.
Over 500 apartments, office space, a swimming pool, a large park and a school are being built here or have already been completed.

Initially, they specialized in the construction of locomotives and bridges. Some famous bridges were made by this company. Grenades and aircraft engines were added later.
In 1918 the buildings of the Xxxxx factory were dismantled and brought to Germany. During the occupation of France by the Germans, war locomotives for the 3rd Reich were produced here.

Mainly in these halls, steam engines (until 1900), steam railcars (1879), steam rollers and locomotives (until 1958) were manufactured
Through a number of takeovers and mergers, one of the largest technology groups in the world has emerged, which can look back on over 200 years of tradition.

The elephants were part of an exhibition about regional and international culture. They were part of a set of 20 identical elephants representing Indian culture, each over 4 meters tall. 18 of the elephants went to India over the years. I don't know why these two are still in the hall.
