There was already a thermal bath here in Roman times.
Rediscovered the springs in the 17th century.
However, it was not until the middle of the 19th century that a thermal bath was built.
A grand hotel for wealthy spa guests was also built on the premises.
In the 19th century the place was a well-known health resort, which quickly lost its importance.
After refugees lived there during and after WW2, the hotel became a boarding school for girls in 1944.
The buildings were left in poor condition and renovated by the new owner in 1964.
In 1981 only 126 people visited the spa facilities. When a fire broke out in the Grand Hotel in 1985, the owner threw in the towel.
In 1997 the site was sold and mineral water started to be produced.
However, this also failed and the company filed for bankruptcy in 2006.
In 2010 a company from Qatar bought the entire site and wanted to fill "luxury mineral water" there, but these plans also failed.
The entire site is still owned by the Arab company.
