After 109 years of coal mining, 2010 saw the last shift here.
At weddings, there were 2,500 miners who used these chews.
The mine was the last in Germany, which the high-priced coking coal
promoted. The cessation of operations was for reasons of economy, the
Reservoirs are not yet exhausted.
Coal, which would have been mined for another 25 years, is still stored down to a depth of 1500 meters.
Some of the buildings have already been demolished.
Others, mostly from the Wilhelminian era, are still standing.
In 2020, housing development should begin here.
