These are at the Eastern end of The Snargate Street Tunnels, the Tunnel leads to the west (Croucher's Tunnels) passing a vent shaft and kiln, and to the east (Cowgate Tunnel) The Cowgate section was hit & almost destroyed by a shell in WW2 killing a Mrs Patience Ransley, it is called Soldiers' Home Caves because its located behind the old Soliders' Home......

there are no alarms in this tunnel system!

Not heard it called that before. When JV did it years ago it was posted as cowgate tunnel, historex tunnels and kiln.

Saw it friday night with maniac before seeing the various reports you guys have posted. I must admit you were quick off the mark with this one (y)

Oldie68 and I went there after we met you at Esplanade. It was our original plan until we heard that Esplanade was open so it ended up being plan B.
Nice one (y)

Desertion and me found it accidently on the way back from a trip to Dunguness. "oh look building site and interesting looking holes in the cliff." cue pulling over and inpromptue explore. It was only when we were back at mine we discovered it was the very same place that Oldie had posted on 28dl Friday night.

That building site was where the Gateway Hovertel once stood. The tunnel entrance was bricked-up back then (cople of weeks ago). The demolition gang must have been curious and smashed down the blocked doorway after they'd destroyed the hotel... You win some, you lose some! :D
That's what it was, I was trying to remember what once stood there. I knew I remembered that dodgey staircase from somewhere, that's the way we went into the place when we looked round it.
