Terry's Chocolate Factory

The Explore

Alarm clock springs into life at 3:30am, it feels like someone has thrown sand in my eyes and I wonder for a split second why i'm awake this early. Then I remember.. explore day :cool2:

I drove up to meet Matt Inked, then onwards to York to rendezvous with Session9. A quick chin-wag then onto the first target of the day before the sun came up. We had a quick look at the factory building and possible access to it was found, but decided to have a look at the tower and admin building first and quickly realised the tower was sadly shut tight and the admin building wasn't looking too good either at that point :( We went back and spent an hour or two in the factory, then decided to check out the admin building one more time and thankfully this time found our way inside....

The History

Terry's was a chocolate and confectionery maker in York, England. Its history stretched back to 1767, but in 1993 it was taken over by Kraft Foods. The company's headquarters, later renamed The Chocolate Works factory, was closed by Kraft in 2005, and products using the Terry's brand name are now produced in other Kraft facilities in Poland, Sweden, Belgium, and Slovakia. The Terry's name eventually became part of Mondelēz International.

It was a shame that the tower was sealed shut as tight as the preverbal nuns chuff, but believe it we did try. Maybe next time.

As always, thanks for looking and all feedback much appreciated (y)

Awesome!

I hope my pictures look like this when I can be bothered to flick through anything other than the stairs :)

The puddle shots are insane! (y)

Thanks lenston mate (y)

It was frustrating that the tower was sealed but the admin building made up for it in the end :p

Yeah that admin building is something else :)
Yeah mate, It's quite a place isn't it. Quite sad that the whole time we were in there we could hear the clatter of diggers and JCB's pretty much feet from the admin blocks walls :(

Cheers Raz mate (y)

Yeah, we scoured the place for ages as we really wanted to get up there, we found a few underground bits in the hope of it leading to the tower but unfortunately they've sealed it up pretty good :( Frustrating to not get to see all the bits of a place :angry2:

Mine was out of the bag on my way through my front door. I walked over to my laptop and started Checking them all out and editing haha! My wife wasn't exactly what I'd call over the moon ;)

Crackin' stuff (y) thought all the moss in the 4th pic was astroturf (that is the stuff football pitches are made of right?) at first lol

Cheers Raw and Urblex (y)

Yeah the attic in admin was a nice little bonus area, found by matt when he tried the door beside the top of the dome and miraculously it opened :)

And Urblex, that's exactly what i said when i seen the astroturf carpet hahaha!! It appears that someone has started to strip the "click-together" wooden flooring around the factory and for some reason, astroturf seems to grow on the bare floor parts
