Well what can I say about this place, in the ten or so years I have been doing this hobby, this has got to be one of the best places I have visited.
Having said that I really haven’t done much exploring in the last couple of years but an out of the blue text from my old exploring mate Rusty saying “are you free for a few hours today” brought this place to my attention. I couldn’t make it that day but after seeing inside by way of photo messaging I was on it the next day with him as he came back for a second visit.
Basically a three story terraced house with some of the the ground floor rooms used as a watchmakers. It looked as though it had been unused for years, a total time capsule. The place was small but amazing, there was a Propane gas rig set up in the house, electrical wiring strewn all over the place with complete disregard to all regulations. Vintage machinery, tooling, clocks, watches, tobacco tins & accounts books dating back over 100 years, all pretty much untouched. after some research it was found that the owner died in 1987, his wife lived on until 2004 when thereafter their daughter continued to live in the house for a number of years until her death. I am unsure as to when this was but it must have been some time ago judging by the state of the place inside.
It was jam packed full of vintage items, more than any other place I have ever visited. It was incredible!
We got there a week after it was first posted online and already some items seen in the first few pictures had already vanished. The front room had pretty much been turned upside down.
The place has now been emptied and sealed up, it was originally thought a museum had been involved in this but that is not the case, so it must have been cleared out by the new owners. Hopefully they didn’t just throw the stuff away! The place could have been a museum itself.
Anyway enough waffle, here are some pictures….
Thanks for looking
