I kind of thought the jig was mostly up as far as asylums were concerned by then, and each time there was another, I'd have this kind of melancholic feeling that it was going to be the last, or the last really decent one, but since that time have ended up adding another sixteen!
So here's another similar post, including the "new" ones, plus some more shots from some of the old classics.
Last time I shamelessly plugged the (completely non-profit!) countyasylums.co.uk website which has grown a little since then, and this time, if no-one minds, I'm also going to shamelssly plug my new book, which should be out in September 2022.
It's called "A History of London County Asylums and Mental Hospitals", and will cover the history / bios of all the London county asylums, so that's:
Hanwell (St Bernard's), Colney Hatch (Friern), Banstead, Cane Hill, Claybury, Bexley, Manor, Horton, St Ebba's, Long Grove, and West Park.
For the Cane Hill and West Park chapters, the days of their dereliction and relevance to urban exploration are also covered.
Hopefully that's relevant enough and of enough related interest to people on here to not feel too much like spam - mods let me know and I'll edit this bit out if so.

and they're still a bit dodgy, but hopefully still interesting.
