I'm sure this place has been explored a lot throughout the years, but I personally have never been to a mine before so could not resist. (I know, shocking)

So the mines themselves have been around for centuries, probably as early as the 13th century, and then more recently re-purposed as an ammunition depot during the second World War. The only way in that we knew of was a drop between the trees and bushes, discreetly hiding a chamber to the quarry. The entry into the main site was through a narrow crawl space from the first chamber. It really is an army crawl, and was incredibly muddy and wet but that is the way of the urbex. Once inside though, I was pleasantly surprised to see the place untouched by vandalism. Who knows how long some of the drawings on the rocks have been there for? There was a lot hidden there, and unfortunately we didn't do the whole area that we could as this was a last minute urbex and only had so much juice in the torches. Did not want to get lost in there and if I wasn't with someone who had been there before I probably would have gotten lost. Its a maze! Sorry for the long write up, enjoy the photos

It is very easy to get lost in there! What's the bit with the stairs going up?

That is browns folly tower looking up from inside. Rock was used from the mine underneath to build it. I didn't go up, there is no handle rail and I don't do heights and old cracked staircases lol

Please don't apologise for a long writeup. Its what makes a report interesting. Browns has been done hundreds of times by many individuals, their own experiences are what make the report.

The folly is an interesting one, but I have only seen it at night. Once when my group got a bit lost trying to find muddy hole, and the other here. I didnt see the stairs but like most others, not keen!

Well done, a bet you had a great time.
